Kerosene price jumps again as Pakistan’s March surge nears 127%

Pakistan’s kerosene price has been raised by Rs70.73 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs428.74 and pushing the cumulative increase for March to nearly 127%. The revised price took effect on March 21 under an official notification.

This is the third upward adjustment in the month. Earlier revisions had already lifted the price sharply, first from Rs188.73 to Rs318.81 and then to Rs358.01, before the latest increase drove it even higher.

The fresh hike has been linked to turbulence in international oil markets as conflict in the Middle East continues to disrupt energy flows and increase pressure on crude prices. The repeated increases point to the growing pass-through effect of external shocks on domestic fuel costs.

The latest revision is expected to intensify cost pressures for households and sectors that depend on kerosene, especially in areas where it remains an essential fuel source.
