Pakistan hits back at India at UN over Indus Waters Treaty row

Pakistan sharply rejected India's remarks at a United Nations event and accused New Delhi of trying to politicise water issues while undermining the Indus Waters Treaty.

Geo News reported that Pakistan's diplomat Aleena Majeed used the right of reply after India's representative linked the treaty to terrorism-related allegations and suggested keeping the agreement in abeyance. Pakistan responded that the treaty does not allow unilateral suspension and described such conduct as a dangerous use of water as political pressure.

Islamabad maintained that the 1960 treaty has survived wars and prolonged disputes, and said Pakistan remains committed to fulfilling its obligations under the agreement while opposing any attempt to rewrite the legal framework unilaterally.
