Pakistan moon-sighting body meets for Eid decision

Pakistan's Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet in Islamabad today to determine whether the Shawwal crescent has been sighted, a decision that will set the date for Eid ul Fitr nationwide.

Committee members will review moon-sighting reports received from across the country before issuing the official announcement. If the crescent is confirmed, Eid will be observed accordingly in Pakistan.

The report noted that Saudi Arabia did not sight the moon a day earlier and will celebrate Eid on Friday, while Afghanistan is observing Eid today. Suparco has assessed the chances of moon sighting in Pakistan on March 19 as low, suggesting the country is more likely to complete a 30-day Ramadan and celebrate Eid on March 21.
