Deadly storm leaves Karachi reeling

A powerful thunderstorm tore through Karachi, leaving at least 20 people dead and several others injured as collapsing walls, fallen trees, damaged roofs and lightning strikes battered multiple neighborhoods.

Some of the worst losses were reported in Baldia and nearby localities, where structural collapses trapped residents and triggered emergency rescue operations. Strong winds also uprooted trees and damaged roadside structures, worsening disruption across the city.

The storm additionally knocked out electricity supply in many areas after more than 800 K-Electric feeders tripped. The scale of damage once again exposed Karachi's fragile urban infrastructure and the city's vulnerability to extreme weather events.
