Asim Munir warns against imported unrest in Pakistan

Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir told a gathering of Ahl-e-Tasheeh ulema in Rawalpindi that Pakistan would not allow violence to be triggered inside the country over incidents taking place abroad. He said religious sentiment must not be exploited to create disorder, and stressed that clerics have a central role in promoting restraint, unity and social harmony.

According to the military's media wing, the meeting focused on national security, the role of ulema in countering sectarian narratives, and efforts to strengthen national cohesion. Munir said Pakistan was pursuing regional de-escalation through proactive diplomacy, while also pushing back against misinformation and externally backed destabilisation attempts.

He also reiterated that Pakistan would not tolerate the use of Afghan soil for attacks against its citizens. Referring to Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, he said militant networks and infrastructure targeting Pakistan would continue to face precise, intelligence-led action wherever necessary. The participating ulema voiced support for peace, rejected violence in the name of religion, and backed law-enforcement efforts to maintain stability.
