FBR confiscates Rs60 million benami plots in Islamabad

The Federal Board of Revenue has confiscated three plots in Islamabad with a combined estimated value of Rs. 60 million under its anti-benami enforcement drive. The action was taken after investigators concluded that the properties were being held in the names of proxy owners who could not justify the financial means needed to acquire them.

According to the report, the case was pursued by the Anti-Benami Initiative Zone-I in Islamabad. Authorities said notices were issued to the registered owner, but no satisfactory evidence was provided to establish lawful ownership or documented financial capacity.

Following adjudication, the state took possession of Plot No. 238, Plot No. 495, and Plot No. 515. Officials said the titles now stand vested in the federal government under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, 2017, and signboards have been installed at the sites to mark the confiscation.

The move is being presented as part of a wider campaign to identify concealed ownership structures and bring undocumented assets within the legal and tax framework.
