Eid rush overwhelms Lahore bus stands as fares spike

Lahore’s intercity transport network is facing severe pressure ahead of Eid, as heavy passenger movement has crowded bus terminals and created long waits for tickets. The latest rush reflects the annual holiday migration, but commuters are reporting unusual difficulty in securing seats.

The report says major terminals, including the City Bus Terminal on Band Road, have been hit by long queues and extended delays. Transporters have also been accused of raising fares beyond normal levels, while some tickets are allegedly being sold through unofficial channels at inflated prices.

With buses already operating at full capacity, many passengers are being forced to wait for hours. The situation has triggered fresh calls for tighter regulation of fares, better terminal management and stronger oversight to prevent exploitation of travelers heading home for Eid.
